13 ever-lovely performers + staff members from Relapse Comedy Theatre took inspiration from our favorite tv show, Saturday Night Live, for this year’s 2013 Calendar. It’s funny, sexy, iconic and a keepsake you’ll still be staring at in 2023!!
Through out 2013, the Girls of Relapse will be promoting the shows, events, and activities of Relapse Theatre and representing Relapse Theatre at events around town. The Girls of Relapse will also be involved in philanthropic and community service projects on behalf of the theatre.
Meet a three of our Girls of Relapse who are breaking boundaries from the boys club of comedy, proving that they are truly Funny not Slutty!!
Caroline Allen is Miss April. She has been doing Improv since 2001 and performing at Relapse since 2009. She is an only child. That’s pretty much all you need to know. She does not share her French fries. Okay, she might give you ONE. She grew up on the mean streets of Memphis, TN, has a master’s degree in English (watch your grammar), and has travelled to over ten countries. She was once pushed out of a train in France while she attempted to improvise some old forgotten French to convince someone that she was supposed to be on that train. When she was a kid, she dressed up as a boy a lot, mostly so that she could wear a fake mustache. She teaches theatre, has an amazing dog, and loves food as well as the farts that follow. Hi MOM! She can be seen performing at Relapse most Saturday nights with either The Instant Movie or IMPROV! The Musical, both of which are produced by Black Box Productions. Call me!
Kristy Oliver is Miss January. She has been performing in 2Girls3Eyes Improv Troupe for 7 years at Relapse Theatre, and started her Improv career in 2000. Kristy’s love of improv might have something to do with growing up in a small rural town in Alabama, where sometimes you just made shit up because there just whut’en a lot going on. It was not uncommon for Kristy to dress up as a funny character and go to the local gas station to demo it, while her older sister’s watched on and judged her performance. Kristy was born with a love for the fart and the sideburns, and she is just one red neck impersonation away from staring in a film with Amy Poehler and Zack Galifianakis directed by Christopher Guest. She’s one to watch with your eyeballs.
Sarah Simmons Turner is Miss February! She is “Dean” of Relapse’s Education Program, Relapse University. She’s been an Ensemble member of Automatic Improv since 2009 (Friday nights @ 8pm @ Relapse) & Astronaut University Improv since 2010 (Saturday nights @ 10:30pm @ Relapse). You can see her starring in several films including ACE the Zombie, Escape the Day, Pigman from the Lake & Stomping Ground. Sarah has been acting since she was a child, but she didn’t take her first Improv class until 2009 at Dad’s Garage. She credits Improv for taking her acting to new heights. Automatic Improv has deemed her “The Balls” of their group. This is because she’s known for being totally fearless and showing 100% commitment on-stage; no matter the situation or suggestion. She proudly stripped down for the Girls of Relapse 2013 calendar; “I didn’t show enough skin last year” she says. “This year I was picking paint out of all kind of weird places for weeks.”
